These are Japanese knotweeds and they are here to destroy your homes 👹.
If you live in greater Boston (or anywhere in New England), there’s a good chance you’ll find these seemingly harmless plants around your house. These plants were initially brought over from Japan. Some gardeners found them ornamental and provides great privacy for the home owners. Knotweeds are also believed to have medicinal properties (though they were never verified scientifically).
But in fact, they are super invasive!
Japanese Knotweeds grow very aggressively like bamboo. It’s roots can penetrate into your foundations, giving you a very very expensive home improvement project.
Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to get rid of them except to stay vigilant and pull them up by the roots and hope they don’t return!
