If you live in an expensive city like Boston or New York, here are some real practical money saving tips that you should be trying.
- Get a roommate or if you can afford it, buy a house and rent out the extra rooms or units to your friends. Housing is the biggest expense we have and this will really help cut down your spending.
- Minimize eating out. Dining out should be a treat and not a norm. And when you grocery shop, look for generic brands and stuff on sales.
- Most major cities will have public transportation. Use it. Or better yet, get a used bike so you can exercise while you commute. It’s a win win.
- Don’t automate your payments. Having to manually pay your bills will force you to think hard about your spending.
- And lastly, if you drinking regularly, give up alcohol! It’s expensive and overall, just terrible for your health and mental well-being.
